HELLO AND WELCOME

We are Kristina & Zoran,

partners in life and creativity.

It’s a pleasure to have you here.

“It all started with a light. Or rather, the search for one.”

We wanted something special—something that wasn’t just a lamp but a story. A piece that captured the essence of Idrija, our hometown—its rugged landscapes, rich history, and those little contrasts that make it unique.

We searched. We debated. We scrolled endlessly. Nothing felt quite right.

So, naturally, we did what any completely sane people would do—we decided to make it ourselves.

That one light turned into an obsession. One design led to another, and before we knew it, we weren’t just making things for our home anymore. We were crafting a whole new collection.

And that’s how Farakaza was born—out of curiosity, a bit of stubbornness, and the belief that the best stories are the ones you create yourself.

We draw inspiration from time-worn textures, forgotten techniques, and nature’s organic transformation. Every piece carries a story—one that lingers in the rusted patina of steel, the warmth of aged wood, and the delicate patterns of lace.

What does a runaway goat have to do with lights & furniture?

More than you think.

Farakaza is inspired by an unusual true local legend from Spodnja Idrija, Slovenia (locally named Fara). A goat, known as the "Pr'farska kaza", which means “Fara Goat”, became famous for escaping from a farm and choosing to live freely in the surrounding hills for years.

This rebellious spirit defines our brand philosophy:

Breaking conventions in design

We challenge conventional approaches, merging materials in unexpected ways with innovative techniques.

Embracing creativity without restrictions

Every piece is a result of intuition, passion and an unrestrained creative process.

Rooted in authenticity

Our work reflects who we are, where we come from and the stories, that shape us.

Standing strong in our vision

We believe in what we create and remain committed to craftsmanship, quality, and the integrity of our designs.

Bringing stories into modern spaces

Traditional patterns and reclaimed materials find a fresh voice in contemporary interiors.

Inspired by our surroundings

From industrial remnants of Idrija to nature’s textures, our designs evolve organically from what we see and feel around us.

Once upon a time there was a goat. Some say she ran away. Others say she simply chose freedom.

Meet the Team

The K & Z of FARAKAZA..

  • Kristina has always been deeply drawn to historic handcraft techniques - sewing, lace-making, crochet, embroidery, and traditional patterns.  In them, she finds roots, stability, and a source of inner calm in a fast-moving world. Creativity is freedom.

  • Precision Obsessed

Kristina has an uncanny ability to spot a crooked line from across the room. Even if it’s just a millimeter off, she’ll notice. It’s a superpower (or a curse, depending on who you ask).

  • Zoran is passionate about woodworking, repurposing aged materials, and crafting objects that tell stories. He sees beauty in timeworn surfaces, in the marks and textures that only history can create. For him, every reclaimed piece of wood holds a narrative waiting to be reimagined into something meaningful.

  • “Rotten wood” collector

Kristina jokingly calls Zoran a collector of "rotten" wood—dragging home old beams, antique furniture, and forgotten wooden pieces. What started as a running joke soon turned into something remarkable. From one of these salvaged finds, the first WOW piece was born. Sometimes, the best designs come from what others overlook!
